One of the major issues plaguing small business is that the Small Business CD from Microsoft contains many of the applications they need but unfortunately, the resources to take advantage of all that software required too much hardware. That is, if one tries to run Microsoft Exchange [mail server] and the SQL server [database server] on the same server, these application programs would lock each other out fighting for the memory. This means you would have to have two separate servers to take advantage of these applications. Microsoft is trying to fix this resource allocation problem but this problem still exists. Imagine trying to use one server as a file server, as a SQL server, and also as a Mail server and have the server run another third party applications such as a financial or an MRP [Manufacturing system]!
