About Us

Symcas was incorporated in 1982 by
Philip Deatherage and
Linda Guckert and worked primarily as a time-share company and as a specialized
problem solving company. They wrote specialized software, created application
databases for many different solutions, did high-end work for many aerospace
firms and worked on many applications that required powerful technical solutions.
Symcas worked with Hunt-Wesson, Northrop, Hughes Aircraft, General Dynamics as
well as major work for oil companies such as Chevron and Union Oil to name a few.
Much of the work was highly technical such as steam injection into off shore oil
reservoirs, Design Rule Checks [DRC] for many semiconductor clients, toxic plume
analysis, and airport noise modeling along with business application such as
databases for the assessment of parcels for Civil Engineering companies.
Through the years, technology changed, clients changed and Symcas changed with it
staying top in its field. Symcas supported new clients such as the LA County
Fair, Orange County Fair, Orange County Performing Arts and even NASA. Symcas
assisted other companies in maintaining their systems including cities and
water districts, which has given Symcas tremendous breath of insight into what
makes government agencies function at its best.
During the years, Symcas developed great
insight into proper management of systems and great problem
solving techniques. Symcas follows a problem solving stair step
technique that if something doesn’t work as advertised; its
impact is very minimal in the overall strategy. This technique
has kept Symcas strong though many
major recessions, and created exceptional insight into how the IT industry
actually works.
